About the Cayrex Wall Battery Project
The Wall battery is an special designed application module within the Hyperflow project, designed as a modular, stationary battery system for energy storage needs. The battery leverages advanced zinc-Halogen chemistry, achieving an energy density of approximately 90 – 100 Wh/kg to provide efficient and safe energy storage. The main focus of this module is to enhance flexibility in energy storage, addressing the growing demand for adaptable solutions in stationary applications.
Structure and Scalable Design
The base 12V Wall battery consists of eight zinc-bromine cells, each with a 80 – 90 Ah capacity, forming a total capacity of 1 kWh. Its modular design allows for easy upgrades with additional 8-cell units for each extra 1 kWh of capacity, allowing precise scaling of energy requirements. This approach offers a straightforward way to increase storage capacity without significant changes to the system’s core design.
High Safety and Resilience
Since zinc-halogen chemistry operates on a water-based system, the Wall battery provides a high level of safety with no risk of overheating or fire. Additionally, it can function within a temperature range of -25 °C to 45 °C, making it suitable for a variety of environmental conditions. With a lifespan over 2000 – 4000 cycles, it offers the reliability and durability essential for stationary applications.
Integration and Architectural Flexibility
With its slim, modular design, the Wall battery is well-suited for installation in residential buildings, tiny homes, modular living containers, and cabins. Due to its structure, it can be embedded directly into walls or used as a standalone unit, offering flexible space utilization without compromising on aesthetics.
